Psychological causes of phobia

In my previous article i have describe what is phobia here.
Now i am discussing about which factors might set the stage of phobia. Why does one person develop phobia.
Here are some causes/ factors that might lead you towards phobia.

Psychoanalytic theory.

A psychologist freud says that phobia occurs due to the repression of some childhood experience of any event related with the feeling of some sin, guilt or shame. It is originally related with the specific object but spreads over many similar things as a result of conditioning.
According to other psychologist monophobia and thanatophobia is the result of failure feelings in life.

Behavioural theory

Says that phobia is learned if a harmless object is conditioned or associated with the fearful event and the phobic learns to reduce his fear by avoiding the fear provoking stimuli.

Phenomenological theory

A psychologist Rogers of phenomenological theory says that a person's growth stops if he does not confront with the situation and the parents wrong interpersonal relationship with their children causes social phobia.

Cognitive theory

Says that misperception of stimuli makes a harmless object harmful in the eyes of phobic patients and the apprehension of being unable to confront the situation causes phobia.

Biological theory

Says that none of the researches have verified the hypothesis that phobia is genetic or runs in families. The causation of phobia is founded more in learning of interpersonal relationships and environment rather than the hereditary.

Many people reported that they develop a phobia after a traumatic event.
