Suicide rates may be grossly underestimated because some deaths are ambiguous, For example, a seemingly accidental deaths may have involved suicidal intentions. Myths about suicide abound, highlighting the need for careful research.
There are several myths about suicide but they are even not true sometimes. contrary evidence are also given.





Myths about suicide

Common Myths.
  • People who discuss suicide will not actually commit suicide.
  • Suicide is committed without warning.
  • Suicidal people want to die.
  • People who attempt suicide by low lethal means are not serious about killing themselves.
Contrary Evidence.
          
  • Up to three quarters of those who take their own lives communicate their intentions beforehand.
  •  People give usually many warnings. Such as saying that the world would be better off without them or making unexpected and inexplicable gifts of highly valued possessions.
  •  Most people are thankful after suicide is prevent.
  • Many people are not well informed about pill dosages or human anatomy. Because of this, people who really want to die sometimes make nonlethal attempts.
